Yeah, like I said I could barely follow what was going on in Last Shot, and while there were some ideas I found interesting it was just all too confused to really follow up on anything. Most Wanted does sound more like what I'd want for a Han novel at least, so I may check that out.

And yeah, I similarly need to care about the characters to care about the romance, and I just do find that more difficult when it's apparent that the characters really just exist for this romance to happen. At least part of what gets me into a romance between characters is also having a good sense of those characters apart from that romance.

I'm right now trying to think of a romance in a Star Wars book that I really got into and am not thinking of much. Those characters in a established pairings often don't have much romantic interaction because the book will be about one of them or the other, and the non-lead character will be off doing something else (i.e., any book about Han or Leia), or is a prequel and so predates the relationship (Hera and Kanan in A New Dawn). A lot of the books might feature little aside relationships but I don't remember any of them as particularly memorable.
